With the all-digital television transition next month and HDTVs (high definition televisions) flying off the shelves, we are growing accustomed to seeing the world in greater clarity. It also means that actresses and on-screen personalities can’t hide their eye wrinkles behind masks of makeup anymore. Digital and high definition essentially raises the soft focus “veil” of analog, so we are able to see things clearly and realistically. So, makeup artists are doing more to conceal the eye wrinkles, dark circles and other imperfections that unforgiving high definition threatens to expose.
In fact, cosmetics companies have developed high definition makeup that’s designed to conceal eye wrinkles and imperfections while creating a naturally flawless-looking complexion. This makeup contains small light-reflecting particles to re-create that flattering soft focus and more pigments for longer-lasting, better coverage. It’s supposed to appear like natural skin that has been air-brushed to perfection. One company I read about that makes HD makeup is Smashbox. Two products that caught my eye were an HD foundation primer that contains antioxidants and fills in fine lines, and an HD foundation with UVA/UVB SPF 15 and vitamin C to conceal eye wrinkles while protecting the skin from further damage.
High definition makeup was created for professional makeup artists to use on photo shoots, movie and TV sets, but it can be used every day as well. If you typically don’t wear much makeup, HD makeup may not be for you. But, for special events or big nights out, HD makeup may help to temporarily transform your eye wrinkles into flawless, youthful eyes.
