An article in the February 2009 issue of Shape Magazine titled “The Newest Wrinkle Fighters” lists three of the latest anti aging products for fighting fine lines and eye wrinkles. One of the wrinkle creams listed is:
Estee Lauder Time Zone Line and Wrinkle Reducing Creme SPF 15 ($58; esteelauder.com)
The article states that this wrinkle cream has a “rice extract [that] jump-starts the production of collagen and elastin.” The “hydrolyzed rice extract” being described is a key ingredient in Estee Lauder’s Sirtuin EX-1 Technology, which slows the appearance of eye wrinkles and other signs of aging.
As I described in a previous post, sirtuins are proteins in the body that increase the lifespan of skin cells by protecting cells from DNA damage and reactive oxygen species. Studies have shown that sirtuins are activated naturally when the body is deprived of calories, but there are other agents that stimulate the production of sirtuins. For example, there are on-going studies on resveratrol, which is found in grape skins and seeds (and therefore red wine), and its potential for activating sirtuin production. Not surprisingly, grape seed extract is listed as an ingredient in this product as well.
Another unique component to Estee Lauder’s Time Zone Line and Wrinkle Reducing Creme is its Tri-Hyaluronic Complex, which is a combination of three hyaluronic acids. According to Estee Lauder’s official website, these acids help to “replenish, rebuild and sustain skin’s natural moisture levels.”
Estee Lauder Time Zone Line and Wrinkle Reducing Creme also lists Argania Spinosa leaf extract among its ingredients. Argania Spinosa, or the argan tree, produces fruit from which the anti aging super ingredient argan oil is extracted. The leaves of this tree also provide anti aging benefits, as they contain polyphenols that prevent collagen breakdown and improve the skin’s elasticity.
With its sirtuin technology, combination of three hyaluronic acids, grape seed extract and argan tree leaf extract, it’s no wonder that this cream is described as one of the most innovative new products to combat eye wrinkles and frown lines.
