Eye Wrinkle Creams with SPF
Posted by Joanna on Mar 9, 2010
With Spring and Summer just around the corner, it’s more important that ever to use eye skin care products with SPF. The sun’s damaging rays can do serious harm to your face, especially the delicate skin around your eyes. Here are 2 good products to try that have SPF 15.
Murad Essential-C Eye Cream SPF 15 15ml/0.5oz is the ultimate eye cream that instantly hydrates your skin while also providing you with protection from the sun! It works to improve your skin’s elasticity, prevents moisture loss, soften the overall appearance of your face, minimizes your fine lines and reduces dark circles and eye puffiness. This product is great because it fights the main symptoms of aging eyes, while still protecting them from the sun.
DDF Protective Eye Cream is another great eye cream that is Recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation. The Seal of Recommendation is granted to products that provide effective UV sun protection and safety aid in the prevention of sun-induced damage to the skin. This lightweight daytime eye cream works to reduce puffiness, decrease dark circles and firm up the delicate skin around your eyes. It also fights off eye lines and wrinkles, all while still protecting your skin from the harmful effects of the environment. The SPF protection wards off damaging UV rays. Overall, this eye cream is excellent and a definite top 5 in my book.
Allure’s Best of Beauty: Relastin Eye Silk
Posted by Joanna on Mar 4, 2010
Relastin Eye Silk is a soft, smooth eye treatment gel that works perfectly on the delicate area around your eyes. It gently makes skin visibly firmer, reduces eye wrinkles and eliminates the appearance of dark circles.
How does this work you ask? Relastin is absorbed in your skin’s top layer. Being absorbed here, it helps your body produce more elastin. (Elastin is the protein that works to smooth your skin.) Almost immediately, your eye skin will feel silky soft. In about 2-4 weeks, you will start to notice your eye wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles start to disappear.
Relastin offers a unique Zinc Firming Complex, which works to restore the elasticity of your skin. It’s easy to use and apply! Simply rub the eye gel under and over your eyes twice a day, after you have washed your face. And that’s it!

Can Stress Really Cause Eye Wrinkles?
Posted by Joanna on Jan 22, 2010
The rumor is true! Anxiety and stress can actually affect your skin complexion, causing those ever-hated eye wrinkles. Whenever you have something wrong with your complexion, stress only adds to the problem.
How does stress affect your complexion and cause eye wrinkles?
When you are stressed out, your body starts to react to its external stimuli. Stress causes an adrenaline surge that elevates your cortisol level, a hormone in your blood that regulates how much sugar your bloodstream is absorbing. The more cortisol that is released, the more energy you will have. While this is great when you are in actual physical danger, your body reacts the exact same way when you have a lot of stress and anxiety. As it turns out, your body can’t tell the difference between the 2 stressors.
In as little as a few months, new wrinkles can start to appear on your face as a result of this cortisol process. Want to know why is affects your face and skin? As said earlier, cortisol tells your cells to put more sugar in your blood to give you that extra energy in times of physical danger and stress. This same sugar can actually bind to proteins in your body and make them stop working. Collagen, the wonderful substance that maintains our smooth skin, is just one of the proteins that is affected.
If this isn’t depressing enough, when your body is stressed, it repairs your skin before it regenerates new skin. Therefore, all of your damaged collagen is getting fixed first and your body is not manufacturing new collagen. As a result, your skin starts to look less youthful and a lot more wrinkly. That wonderful thing called stress also slows cell turnover and increases your dryness which makes wrinkles appear more prominent.
Don’t fear, there is hope! There are somethings you can do to help this! Try to relax as much as possible. Do what you need to do in order to relax. If you need to hit the gym, get more sleep, read a nice book, do what works for you! Leading a more relaxing lifestyle have been shown to reduce cortisol levels. Always wear sunscreen when you are outdoors. If you have less skin damage from the sun, then your body will not have as much repairing to do.
Make sure to add a collagen booster to your eye wrinkle cream. This will help your collagen proteins that added boost they need to work. The best eye creams can actually be strong enough to increase new collagen.
Eye Wrinkle Skin Care for Men
Posted by Joanna on Dec 29, 2009
It’s sad to say that many of the anti-wrinkle products out there for men do very little to help their skin. Why do you ask? There isn’t a lot in these products that work very well with their skin. The creams fail because they lack the important ingredients that your skin needs to make more elastin and collagen. Having elastin and collagen in your eye wrinkle cream do little to help. You need the ingredients that help your body to make those 2 things.
Why are elastin and collagen bad ingredients? First, they do not penetrate the skin. Then, even if they did, those ingredients would not do anything anyway because they are too thick to be absorbed. The key ingredients you need to look for are Cynergy TK and Phytessence Wakame, which encourage the body to produce collagen and elastin.
Some eye skin care products don’t do much for redness, dryness and itching. The reason for this is many men’s products contain alcohol, which actually makes your skin problems worse! This should not be put on your skin. Instead of this, find products with natural ingredients that are good for your skin! As mentioned earlier, the best eye creams have Cynergy TK and Phytessence Wakame. Your body already knows how to grow new skin. These ingredients help boost your body to do that!
There are many other natural ingredients that can help your body produce more elastin and collagen. Try using Capuacu butter, grape seed oil, Vitamin B-5 and Babassu palm wax. These ingredients help fight dryness, inflammation and redness by making the skin feel smoother and softer.
How to Rid Yourself of Puffy Eyes
Posted by Joanna on Oct 29, 2009
Dark circles and puffy eyes are a lethal combination no woman wants to have. The swelling that occurs in your eyes is caused by fluid that gathers under your eyes when you are sleeping. Those nasty dark circles, commonly referred to as raccoon eyes, can be a burden in the morning when are you trying to look your best. You can start doing some simple things to help reduce your morning puffy eyes and get back your radiant shine. First, prop your head up on a pillow to help the fluid drain. Applying cold, seeped black-tea sachets on your eyelids in the morning can dramatically reduce your swollen blood vessels. Just think of them as cucumbers! To finish it off, apply a small amount of eye wrinkle cream to those tired, raccoon eyes to even out your skin tone.
One of the best eye creams that I’ve found is Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Daily Anti-Fatigue Eye Cream. It contains vitamin C, which helps reduce the appearance of eye wrinkles too. Just dab it gently around your eyes and tada! Like magic, your puffy eyes will gradually disappear and you are ready to start a new day!
Eye Wrinkle Fighters for Your 30s - Plus $10 Off Olay Pro-X!
Posted by Joanna on Oct 16, 2009
Many people start to see the first signs of aging in their early 30s, mostly due to the sun exposure received in their early adulthood. This is great time to start doing damage control. To combat dull complexion and eye wrinkles, try smoothing your skin with ingredients such as retinol, peptides, niacinamide and alpha hydroxy acids.
One great solution is Olay ProX Wrinkle Smoothing Cream. This night cream is super thick but absorbs well, so it doesn’t feel sticky. The peptides and niacinamide even out skin tone, correct skin discolorations from sun damage, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. For the eye area specifically, the Olay eye cream, Olay ProX Eye Restoration Complex
, is a must have. This eye wrinkle cream is formulated for the sensitive eye area, unlike the Wrinkle Smoothing Cream, which may irritate eyes if applied too closely. It’s niacinamide improves the skin’s elasticity, smoothing out eye wrinkles, and the peptides stimulate cell growth, repairing damaged skin cells and correcting rough, discolored skin. Plus, it contains caffeine to reduce puffy eyes.
Better yet, Olay Pro-X is giving away $10 off coupons for a limited time! Click here to receive your coupon for $10 off your next purchase of any two Olay Pro-X products.
Anti-Aging Eye Rollers: Olay vs. Garnier
Posted by Joanna on Sep 25, 2009
Olay Regenerist is taking Garnier’s eye roller concept to the next level. The new Olay Regenerist AntiAging Eye Roller claims to not only decrease eye puffiness and under eye bags like the Garnier Nutritioniste skin Renew Anti Puff Eye Roller, but it also claims to reduce eye wrinkles.

The Garnier eye roller first created a buzz by saying it can massage away puffy eyes by reducing the excess under eye fluid that builds up during the night. Olay took a similar approach, except that their Olay eye roller has three micro-rollers instead of one roller like Garnier. It also contains a hydrating serum that smooths out the lines and wrinkles around the eyes and improves the skin’s elasticity.
My favorite thing about these products is that you don’t need to use your finger to apply the eye wrinkle cream, which is good for two reasons: 1. When you apply eye wrinkle cream with your finger, you run the risk of stretching or damaging the delicate skin under the eyes, which can lead to more eye wrinkles. 2. Your fingers are often dirtier than you think! By applying the cream using a roller, you aren’t spreading dirt and bacteria onto your face or into a jar of eye wrinkle cream.
Have you tried the Garnier eye roller or the Olay eye roller? If so, I’d love to hear from you!
Can Certain Sleeping Positions Keep Eye Wrinkles Away?
Posted by Joanna on Aug 28, 2009
As bizarre as it sounds, yes!
The American Academy of Dermatology warns that sleeping in the same position every night can eventually cause “sleep lines” such as forehead and eye wrinkles. These are the creases that form on your skin’s surface while you sleep. These usually disappear a few minutes after you’ve gotten up. But, if you have a consistent sleeping position, the sleep lines can remain etched into your skin. This is particularly noticeable as you age and your skin loses its elasticity.
It actually makes a lot of sense. Just like any repetitive facial movement, such as squinting, frowning or smiling, if you’re causing the same lines to form on your face over and over, the lines will eventually become permanent. If you sleep on your side, you may cause your cheeks to scrunch up toward your eyes, creating crows feet and eye wrinkles.
So what can we do to prevent sleep lines? In addition to getting a good eye wrinkle cream that contains vitamins A and C, the ADA suggests sleeping on your back. Now, if you’re like me and you twist and turn all night long, you may need some assistance in staying on your back. Try putting pillows on either side of your body. These pillows can act like bumpers and keep you from rolling over onto your side or stomach.
Best wishes for a restful sleep and a wrinkle-free morning!
Free Samples of New Kinerase Cream!
Posted by Joanna on Jul 15, 2009
Sephora is giving away FREE samples of the new Kinerase PhotoFacials Sun Damage Reversal System products! This new Kinerase cream system replicates the benefits of photofacials, which are popular treatments performed by dermatologists to reduce signs of sun damage. The Kinerase PhotoFacials system reverses these signs of sun damage by diminishing eye wrinkles and other fine lines, and improving uneven skin pigmentation, tone and texture. It is a 3-step system that includes a daily exfoliating cleanser, day moisturizer with SPF 50 to protect the skin from further sun damage, and a night moisturizer with kinetin to stimulate cell regeneration and reduce wrinkles.
If you visit a Sephora store, no purchase is necessary to receive the free sample, which is a 4-day supply. The Sephora stores inside JCPenney and Sephora Canada stores are not participating in the giveaway. Merchandise purchase IS necessary to receive the free sample online at Sephora.com. Enter promo code PHOTOFACIAL3 at checkout. This free sample offer is valid July 15 through August 31, 2009 while supplies last. So, hurry to get your free sample, then let me know what you thought about the Kinerase PhotoFacials. I’d love to hear your feedback.
The one thing I don’t like about this skin care system is that it lacks a Kinerase eye cream. The eye area often shows the signs of aging first, so I suggest getting an eye wrinkle cream that is specifically formulated for this delicate area. I highly recommend Kinerase Intensive Eye Cream, which is a top selling eye wrinkle cream on Sephora and SkinCareRx.com, my favorite online beauty store.
Redbook Magazine is also having an online contest to give away Kinerase PhotoFacial systems, valued at $216 each, to three lucky Redbook readers. Simply visit Redbook’s website, enter your information to receive a free trial subscription, and you’ll be entered to win. Good luck!
