Can Stress Really Cause Eye Wrinkles?
Posted by Joanna on Jan 22, 2010
The rumor is true! Anxiety and stress can actually affect your skin complexion, causing those ever-hated eye wrinkles. Whenever you have something wrong with your complexion, stress only adds to the problem.
How does stress affect your complexion and cause eye wrinkles?
When you are stressed out, your body starts to react to its external stimuli. Stress causes an adrenaline surge that elevates your cortisol level, a hormone in your blood that regulates how much sugar your bloodstream is absorbing. The more cortisol that is released, the more energy you will have. While this is great when you are in actual physical danger, your body reacts the exact same way when you have a lot of stress and anxiety. As it turns out, your body can’t tell the difference between the 2 stressors.
In as little as a few months, new wrinkles can start to appear on your face as a result of this cortisol process. Want to know why is affects your face and skin? As said earlier, cortisol tells your cells to put more sugar in your blood to give you that extra energy in times of physical danger and stress. This same sugar can actually bind to proteins in your body and make them stop working. Collagen, the wonderful substance that maintains our smooth skin, is just one of the proteins that is affected.
If this isn’t depressing enough, when your body is stressed, it repairs your skin before it regenerates new skin. Therefore, all of your damaged collagen is getting fixed first and your body is not manufacturing new collagen. As a result, your skin starts to look less youthful and a lot more wrinkly. That wonderful thing called stress also slows cell turnover and increases your dryness which makes wrinkles appear more prominent.
Don’t fear, there is hope! There are somethings you can do to help this! Try to relax as much as possible. Do what you need to do in order to relax. If you need to hit the gym, get more sleep, read a nice book, do what works for you! Leading a more relaxing lifestyle have been shown to reduce cortisol levels. Always wear sunscreen when you are outdoors. If you have less skin damage from the sun, then your body will not have as much repairing to do.
Make sure to add a collagen booster to your eye wrinkle cream. This will help your collagen proteins that added boost they need to work. The best eye creams can actually be strong enough to increase new collagen.
Acne AND Eye Wrinkles?!
Posted by Joanna on Jul 7, 2009
Yep, it’s a double whammy. You probably thought that acne would go away after your teen years, and you wouldn’t have to worry about eye wrinkles until you’re “old.” Then you became an adult and reality sunk in - You can have pimples and wrinkles at the same time! This realization has been known to spur a “Why God?” moment in many adults.
If you suffer from adult acne, you’re not alone. Millions of people have aging, acne-prone skin. On the bright side, you can actually hit two birds with one stone. Many anti-aging products are also great acne fighters. As dermatologist Heidi Waldorf stated in Allure Magazine, “Prescription retinoids such as tretinoin and tazarotene are potent acne medications as well as the gold standard for topical anti-aging.” These retinoids fight acne by removing the dead skin cells that clog pores and cause whiteheads and blackheads. They also reduce the appearance of eye wrinkles and other signs of aging by increasing cell turnover and collagen production. They not only fight the signs of sun damage, but they also fight genetic aging as well.
For less severe acne and wrinkles, try the over-the-counter products that contain lower-strength retinol, which is an active derivative of vitamin A. One product that gets great reviews for preventing breakouts, reducing wrinkles and improving overall skin tone is La Roche-Posay Biomedic Retinol 15.
This is a great product for those with sensitive skin or those who are using retinol cream for the first time. If you’ve started on Retinol 15 or used retinol cream before without skin irritation, you can try the higher strength La Roche-Posay Biomedic Retinol 30. As always, but particularly when using any retinol cream, be sure to wear sunscreen of at least spf 25 during the day to protect your skin from wrinkle-causing skin damage. For extra help around the eye area, try the Clinicians Complex Retinol Eye Cream. It contains retinol and retinyl palmitate for reducing the appearance of eye wrinkles and tocopherol (vitamin E) and soybean oil to moisturize.
Adult acne can be frustrating and embarrassing. By using retinol creams, you can have younger-looking skin - without looking like a pimply teenager!
Tips on Healthy Summertime Skin
Posted by Joanna on Jun 25, 2009
Everyone loves summertime, but it can wreak havoc on your skin. In addition to sunburns and mosquito bites, chlorine and saltwater dry out the skin. Plus, you sweat more in the summer, which makes skin less supple. And, we all know what dry, sun-damaged skin can lead to…eye wrinkles! So how do you resuscitate summertime skin and stave off the wrinkles?
Let’s start with the inside. WebMD recommends eating lots of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, which are high in antioxidants and vitamin C, and protein in the form of lean meats, beans and nuts. Because calcium can be lost while sweating, WebMD also recommends eating low-fat dairy products like skim milk and yogurt. One of the most important things you can do though is drink more water. Aim for at least 8 glasses of water a day. It not only hydrates and regulates your body, but also helps improve your complexion, making you look and feel younger.
Now for the outside. To protect yourself from the UVA rays that cause melanoma and damage collagen and elastin, leading to eye wrinkles, wear sunscreen with at least SPF 30. You will get about 97% protection from SPF 30 and about 98% from SPF 45. It’s best to use sunscreen everyday, and the most effective anti aging facial moisturizers will contain sunscreen. Wearing sunglasses and hats regularly also help to shield your face from eye wrinkle-causing sun damage. For mosquitos, clinical studies have proven that DEET is the most effective chemical repellent. Because DEET is so effective, experts suggest that you only use the recommended amount, avoid the mouth, nose and eyes, and wash with soap and water once you’re inside. Not a fan of chemical-based products? A natural alternative, according to WebMD, is the oil of lemon eucalyptus.
Amidst all the summertime fun, remember to protect your skin from the inside and on the outside, and you’ll have healthy, youthful-looking skin for many summers to come!
The Secret to Having a Tan Face Without Getting Eye Wrinkles
Posted by Joanna on Jun 19, 2009
Excessive sun exposure is the leading cause of premature eye wrinkles, so I go to great lengths to shield my face from the sun. In addition to wearing hats and sunglasses regularly, I wear a daily moisturizer with spf 25. The only downside? After a couple trips to the lake and the neighborhood pool, my face tends to be a few shades paler than the rest of my body!
To remedy this, I’ve tried using bronzer and tinted makeup, but I usually end up not looking very natural. I was lamenting to a (very tan) friend about this the other day, and she told me her secret to having a tan without damaging her skin or getting eye wrinkles - sunless self face tanner.
She said that rather than using the same self tanner on your face as you do the rest of your body, it’s best to get a self tanner that is specifically formulated for your face and won’t clog pores. She claims the best self tanner for the face is Fake Bake Anti-Aging Facial Self Tanner.

My friend said she likes how it is lightweight and doesn’t leave streaks. Plus, it helps improve skin tone and texture with its powerful eye wrinkle fighters such as moisturizing tocopherol (vitamin E) and Matrixyl (palmitoyl pentapeptide), which is also found in highly effective anti aging and eye wrinkle creams such as StriVectin and Olay eye products.
Here are the instructions she gave me to apply the face tanner: First, wash your face and use an exfoliating scrub to remove any dead skin. Once your face is dry, squeeze about a quarter size of the self tanner into your hands. Starting at your cheekbones, thoroughly rub the self tanner all over your face. It’s important to get a thin layer of self tanner evenly distributed all over your face. To create an authentic sun-kissed look, you can apply a thin second layer to just your cheekbones and top of your nose, where the sun hits your face the most. Next, thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water. Pay particular attention to cleaning the areas where the self tanner tends to collect, such as your knuckles and between your fingers. Once the self tanner is dry, apply your eye wrinkle cream and sunscreen with spf 15 or higher.
So, it is possible to have tan, but still healthy, youthful-looking skin. The secret is to fake it!
Does Wearing Contacts Cause Eye Wrinkles?
Posted by Joanna on Jun 4, 2009
A friend of mine asked me this the other day. The simple answer is no, wearing contacts does not cause eye wrinkles.
However, excessive stretching or rubbing the skin around your eyes does cause eye wrinkles, and sometimes people are rough with this skin as they insert their contacts. As we age, skin becomes thinner and more fragile because we gradually lose the collagen and elastin that keeps skin full and firm. This eventually causes wrinkles, which usually first appear around the eye area, since it contains the thinnest skin on the face. By frequently rubbing or pulling at this delicate skin, you are increasing the breakdown of collagen and elastin, leading to premature eye wrinkles.
There are multiple ways to keep these eye wrinkles away:
1. If you wear eye contacts, be very gentle with the eye area when putting them in. Open your eye very wide, and lightly pull the upper or lower lid away to insert the contact. If you can put your contact in without touching the skin around your eye, it’s even better, but it can be difficult to get used to.
2. Use an eye wrinkle cream that contains vitamin C, amino acids and copper peptides, which stimulate the production of collagen. Again, apply the eye cream to the eye area very gently. I recommend using your ring finger, which is a generally weak digit.
3. Wear sunscreen every day. Sun damage is one of the leading causes of premature eye wrinkles. Choose an eye wrinkle cream that contains sunscreen, and wear sunglasses regularly. If you don’t have perfect vision, one of the benefits of wearing contacts is that you can wear stylish sunglasses that don’t clip onto your glasses!
Best Eye Creams Really Are Online. I’ll Show You Where to Find Them.
Posted by Elena on Apr 30, 2009
The search for the best eye creams that will eliminate dark circles, eye wrinkles or puffy eyes is, frankly, overwhelming. Every eye skin care product claims to have the miracle ingredient that will turn back the hands of time in a matter of days, or even minutes. Although we want to believe every claim, common sense tells us that the truth is being stretched just a little bit.
Take heart. There is a “best eye cream” out there for you. It’s your job to find it.You can’t find the best eye cream by the powers of persuasion of the local beauty clerk or local newspaper ads.
The best eye cream for you is on the Internet. Somewhere in that vast World Wide Web, your best eye cream is out there just waiting to be delivered to your front door.
So where is it? And how do you find it?
Here’s my Three-Step Formula for finding the best eye cream:
1. What’s your eye skin care issue?are you plagued by eye wrinkles?dark eye circles? Under Eye Puffiness? Not just one but usually a few or more? Be honest with yourself and determine your most pressing issue as it relates to your eyes. We know that the eyes are the window to the soul so it’s important to be realistic about what you want to accomplish with an eye skin care product.
2. Do you have a spending limit? If you don’t have an extra $90, $100 or $150 to spend on an eye cream, why even entertain the thought? Be realistic about your budget and stick to it throughout your search.
3. Which ingredients spark you interest? Every week there is a press release about a new breakthrough product or ingredient to rid eye skin care issues.Whatever eye cream ingredient you determine is the best for you, you should make sure the creams you select have that particular ingredient?Vitamin K? Argan Oil? Emu Oils? All Natural?
Once you’ve answered these three questions, you can begin and end your search right on the Internet. Now, the list you collected should be narrowing. Online stores such as The Best Eye Creams Store will carry a much larger selection than what you will find in your average department or drug store, so your odds of finding the perfect eye cream for you are much improved.
Make your purchase (and be sure to go for the Free Shipping option, where available), then give that eye cream time to do its job … at least 1 or 2 months.Only now will you be able to decide if the cream is the best one for your needs.
New Product Review: Garnier Eye Cream Protects Against Sun Damage
Posted by Joanna on Apr 24, 2009
I was reading my favorite magazine, Real Simple, the other day, and I found an ad for a new Garnier eye cream called Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti-Sun-Damage Daily Eye Cream with SPF 15. Now, I see ads for new eye products all the time, but what struck me about this one is that it said “the first eye product recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation!” There was a disclaimer stating that it’s the first eye product that is sold in food, drug and mass merchandise retailers to be recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation, but it’s still impressive!
I’m always surprised at how many eye wrinkle creams don’t have sun protection in them. Sun damage is the leading cause of premature wrinkles. Since the eye area is the thinnest area on the face and often the first to show signs of aging, it’s a great idea to wear sunscreen around your eyes to keep the eye wrinkles away as long as possible. This Garnier eye cream contains lycopene and sunscreen to protect against wrinkle-causing sun damage, magnesium to hydrate the skin, and powerful antioxidant vitamin C to stimulate skin cell regeneration and collagen production. So, it protects and corrects!
For the best all-over sun protection, I recommend using this Garnier eye cream with
Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Daily Regenerating Moisture Lotion SPF 15. With many of the same ingredients as the Garnier eye cream, this facial lotion is a great addition to your anti aging arsenal. Apply the Garnier eye cream first, and then follow with this moisturizing lotion during the day to protect your entire face from wrinkle-causing sun damage.
I think this Garnier eye cream and facial lotion are particularly beneficial for younger skin, such as people in their late 20s and early to mid 30s. This is because the creams are lightweight, and they don’t contain some of the power eye cream ingredients that I think are necessary for more mature skin, such as retinol. For younger skin, it’s more important to hydrate and protect to lessen future damage, rather than using heavy creams formulated to reduce eye wrinkles on mature skin.
Sun Protection: The Best Way to Prevent Eye Wrinkles
Posted by Joanna on Apr 13, 2009
Have you seen people walking around with “raccoon eyes” lately? You know, red faces except for circles around their eyes where sunglasses were? After being indoors all winter, people are emerging into the sunlight to enjoy the warm Spring days. But the problem is that they’re forgetting to wear sunscreen! One of the leading causes of premature aging is sun damage. So these springtime sunburns are not only causing pain and embarrassment, but also eye wrinkles!
Of course, the best way to avoid sun damage and subsequent eye wrinkles is to wear sunscreen all year long. There are many great anti aging moisturizers that contain sunscreen, but great eye wrinkle creams that contain sunscreen aren’t as easy to come by. I’ve found the Dermalogica eye creams to be some of the most line effective eye wrinkle creams available, and one of them contains sunscreen.

Dermalogica Total Eye Care SPF 15
is one of the best eye creams because it does it all. It contains vitamins C and E to moisturize and reduce eye wrinkles, arnica and cucumber to diminishes eye puffiness and dark circles, and sunscreen and antioxidant-rich green tea extract to protect against sun damage.
So, be sure to cover all your bases by wearing a moisturizer and an eye wrinkle cream that both contain sunscreen. Combine that with wearing sunglasses, and you’ll have the best sun protection next to staying indoors!
Looking For Anti-Wrinkle Products?
Posted by Elena on Mar 30, 2009
There are lots of cosmetics companies out there who are trying to hide something up in their sleeve that they don’t want you to know. You can consider this as marketing strategy or putting your head on the chopping block but either way, here’s one of what they don’t want to make you aware of. To eliminate eye wrinkles, they put in their products their “own version” of collagen & elastin which are found naturally in your skin. In short, altering the natural course of things can do greater damage. But with this new product called StriVectin SD, everthing is different. This sort of anti-ageing item takes care of your stretch marks the healthy and risk-free way. You can get to know more about it through this anti wrinkle cream review site and see for yourself why it’s one of the best products for wrinkles and stretch marks. But there is more…
Actually, there are more than one kind of product that can take care of your eye wrinkles. Another kind of anti-wrinkle product is Royal Gold. If you’re tired and fed with other products and you want results in minutes, this Royal Gold thing can take care of your wrinkles like magic. Compared to an over-the-counter commercialized anti wrinkle skin cream, this one takes care of every skin problem you have through natural ways.
And then, there are some anti-wrinkle creams on this review web site that are superior for a precise part of the skin or on your face. Although you can find an anti wrinkle eye cream review site, you can also find best eye creams from here. If you want to choose the best product that can eliminate all those evident aging marks on your face, you don’t have to look from one website to another. In this review site, you can find all the best in just one sitting. Some of the products introduced, rated and reviewed can be found here from Revitol, Opulence Awakening Eye Serum, OHT Peptide 3 which is also aimed at effectively healing your skin from the inside out so you get flawless skin deep beauty, Ceramide-C, Avotone, AlphaDerma CE, Hydroderm and 7 Minute Lift.
Eye Wrinkles - Secrets Revealed
Posted by Elena on Mar 27, 2009
So your developing a plan to knock out your eye wrinkles, huh?
We all wish we knew the secret to how to make skin look younger. We all want that healthy glow and smooth complexion free of eye wrinkles that speaks of vitality and good health. Usually, we take it for granted until one day we look into the mirror, and notice our complexion has grown tired. Luckily, you don’t need to take expensive and extreme measures in order to improve your skin.
The secret to healthy younger looking skin is to provide healthy ingredients from both the inside and out. Eat a healthful diet, with plenty of antioxidants, and follow the advice to drink plenty of water each day. Find anti aging products that are clinically proven to rejuvenate skin to produce more collagen and elastin. Some high quality anti-aging ingredients to look for are CoenzymeQ10, retinol (vitamin A) and antioxidants.
The biggest challenge is to find products and companies that actually live up to the claims. You must have enough of the active ingredients in your products to actually have a visible effect and give you the improvements you expect.
You may be surprised to learn that the big name cosmetic and skin care lines are not necessarily the ones with the best products and ingredients, nor are they the companies that do the most research. Often they include a tiny amount of an ingredient, just so they can list it on the label. Often you are disappointed by the results.
Follow this simple advice when shopping for skincare lines:
Look for natural ingredients!
- Avoid petroleum products.
- Seek products that have proven results through clinical studies.
- Avoid chemicals and look for products with ingredients that would be safe enough to eat.
- Ensure that the products have adequate amounts of effective ingredients.
Sometimes, smaller, specialty companies typically invest more in research and clinical studies, and spend more on the ingredients going into the product than on the fancy label and advertising. Learning how to make skin look younger can be as simple as doing your research so you can be an educated consumer before you go shopping.
Now you have some more fuel to your fire for getting rid of those eye wrinkles! So get started already! ![]()
