One of the anti-aging skin care ingredients that I’m sure you’ll hear a lot about this year is sirtuins. Through my research, I’ve found many studies that show these sirtuins could be the key to the latest anti aging technology. So what are they?
Sirtuins are proteins in the body that prolong cell life by protecting cells from DNA damage and reactive oxygen species. The research looks promising for the cosmetics industry, because skin cells treated with agents that activate sirtuin production have been shown to have the following benefits:
- Slowing the signs of aging, such as eye wrinkles and puffiness.
- Increasing the lifespan of skin cells
- Protecting skin cells against stress
- Repairing old and damaged cells
The potential of sirtuin technology to effectively combat aging appears to be highly significant. Now the question is: what products are utilizing this sirtuin technology?
