Resolutions for a Youthful New Year
Posted by Joanna on Dec 31, 2008
Let’s be honest: New Year’s resolutions are great intentions, but how many people actually keep them? Make 2009 the year to make achievable goals, and start with a resolution to take better care of yourself. When you’re good to your body, your body is good to you. Meaning, you’ll keep eye wrinkles away longer, have more energy and appear more youthful in general. Taking better care of yourself doesn’t necessarily mean resolving to go to the gym every day or lose 50 pounds. While these are nice intentions, let’s think a little more realistically. Here are a few easy things you can do to take better care of yourself in 2009:
Drink more water. This not only improves the quality of your skin, but it is also a great weight loss tip. So, if you’ve put on a few pounds this holiday season like yours truly, then this resolution should be at the top of your list. Drink a glass of water before eating a meal and you’ll find yourself eating less.
Go for a walk. Park your car a little further away at the grocery store. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Any exercise can help your skin, among many other health benefits. Exercise not only burns calories, but also improves circulation, which helps to bring oxygen and nutrients to your skin.
Ditch your old moisturizer and get one with sunscreen in it. Pick one with an SPF of at least 15. This one simple change will both protect you from skin cancer and delay the signs of aging.
Treat yourself to a new pair of sunglasses and wear them regularly. Sunglasses help prevent eye wrinkles and protect the delicate skin around your eyes from damaging UV rays. Plus, who doesn’t look cool in sunglasses?
Here’s to a more youthful you in the New Year!
Anti Aging Products Made With Produce: Can They Keep Eye Wrinkles Away?
Posted by Joanna on Dec 29, 2008
A recent New York Times article described how the beauty and skin care industry is increasingly using ingredients found in the supermarket produce aisle, especially for preventing eye wrinkles and other signs of aging. Fruits and vegetables that are high in vitamins and antioxidants, such as spinach, carrots and apples, are being used more frequently as ingredients in anti aging products. Rather than using the natural products in their food grade form, they are formulated into cosmetic-grade ingredients so that they can penetrate the skin. One particularly interesting point is that capsaicin, the chemical that gives chili peppers their heat, may help in reducing the appearance of wrinkles. While many natural ingredients are proven to be successful anti aging properties, I would be hesitant to use any products containing chili peppers around my eyes. It’s best to use a high-quality anti eye wrinkle cream that protects and moisturizes the thin, fragile skin around the eyes. Click here to read the full article.
Exercise Your Eye Wrinkles Away: Fact or Fiction?
Posted by Joanna on Dec 23, 2008
I’ve tried many different anti aging skin products and techniques, and I know the most effective ways to keep eye wrinkles away. So, a friend recently asked my opinion of facial exercises.
I explained that facial exercises alone will not prevent and reduce eye wrinkles, but they may be an effective addition to your regular anti aging skin care routine. Along with a great anti eye wrinkle cream and a healthy lifestyle, facial exercises may help tone your facial muscles and improve your skin’s elasticity.
Have facial exercises helped you manage your eye wrinkles?
Start Preventing Eye Wrinkles in Your 20s
Posted by Joanna on Dec 22, 2008
Even if you don’t see any visible signs of aging yet, it’s not too early to begin protecting your skin. In fact, your 20s is the optimal time to prevent future skin damage and keep wrinkles away for longer.
The better care you take of your skin when you’re younger, the longer it will take for eye wrinkles and other facial lines to appear. During your 20s, your skin cells regenerate quickly, and the skin’s elastin and collagen are still strong and firm. However, it is also during this time that you lay the foundation for the lines that appear later. So, it’s best to take early precaution with a few simple steps.
Choose the Right Products
Some anti eye wrinkle creams and other anti aging products are not formulated for younger skin. Because skin gets thinner with age, anti aging products formulated for more mature skin tend to be too heavy for 20-somethings. Look for anti eye wrinkle creams and moisturizers that are lightweight, oil-free and contain anti-oxidants. Pay particular attention to nourishing the eye area, since that is often the first facial feature to show wrinkles.
Change Your Habits
If you find yourself making the same facial expression often, try to make a conscious effort to kick that habit. Squint at your computer monitor a lot? Try adjusting your monitor’s position, and take a few breaks away from your computer. Stop smoking. You already know how bad smoking is to your overall health. An added reason to quit is that it leads to premature wrinkles. Smokers will start noticing deep wrinkles early around their eyes - from squinting through irritating smoke - and mouth - from sucking in the smoke.
Wear Sunscreen
If you’re not already, get in the habit of wearing sunscreen every day. The less sun exposure you have now, the less eye wrinkles you’ll have later. Either apply sunscreen before your moisturizer, or find a moisturizer with sunscreen in it.
If you’re in your 20s, now is the time to start eye wrinkle prevention. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself in the future.
Using Makeup to Blend Eye Wrinkles Away
Posted by Joanna on Dec 18, 2008
Many times women will use a thick layer of foundation and powder to try to mask eye wrinkles and other signs of aging. This often has a reverse effect, as foundation will settle into lines and actually emphasize what you are trying to cover up. But don’t panic! There are ways to use makeup to enhance your skin’s youthfulness rather than just using it to conceal unsightly wrinkles and dark circles.
First, apply sunscreen with at least 15 SPF to protect your skin from further eye wrinkles and damage. Then, add a thin layer of foundation that matches your natural skin tone, and use a clean sponge to blend evenly over your face and jaw line. Next use your ring finger to dab – never rub or apply pressure – concealer lightly around your eye and blend into your foundation. Too much concealer can emphasize eye wrinkles, so be sure to apply sparingly.
Shift the focus away from your eye wrinkles by highlighting your eyes. Use dark brown or gray eye liner to line only the top lid, and then apply two coats of mascara on the top lid, and one very thin coat to the bottom.
When choosing colors for lips and eyes, it’s usually better to stick with warm tones that complement your natural skin color. In general, makeup with more of a matte consistency is more flattering than makeup with shimmer or sparkles.
If you use the right makeup on your face and apply it correctly, it is possible to minimize the appearance of eye wrinkles and make your skin look younger and brighter.
10 Tips to Reducing Eye Wrinkles in Your 30s
Posted by Joanna on Dec 12, 2008
Stay Beautiful in Your 30s
Aging, career highs and lows, even pregnancy can lead to some changes in your complexion and well-being. You may start noticing a few fine lines around the eyes and mouth, dullness in your skin, or adult acne.
Problem: Eye Wrinkles
The eyes have it - thinner, more-sensitive skin, that is. While regular facial moisturizers can keep the skin supple, eye creams usually contain lower concentrations of active ingredients and fewer preservatives, so they are gentler.
Make sure the cream you choose includes the basics, such as sunscreen and antioxidants. If you need a little extra help, look for ingredients like caffeine and magnolia extract to reduce puffiness; coneflower to cool and soothe or vitamin K to lessen dark under-eye circles.
Here are a few tips for proactive anti eye wrinkle skin care:
1. Exfoliate. The 30s is the decade when cell turnover begins to slow down, leading to dull, uneven skin tone. Counter this with regular exfoliation and moisturizing treatments that contain alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs).
2. See spot treatments. Pregnancy may cause hormonal upheavals that can result in melasma, also called “mask of pregnancy” (dark patches on the skin). Use gentle skin-lightening products that can contain vitamin C and licorice extract.
3. Take your vitamins. A single multivitamin provides you most of the vitamins and minerals you need. Doctors may also recommend calcium supplements.
4. Get moving. Strengthen your bones and muscles with weight training.
5. Drink a lot of water: Skin care can’t be any simpler than this. Water helps in flushing out the toxins from the body, hence keeping it clean and making it less prone to disease. Around 8 glasses of water (per day) is recommended by all doctors.
6. Avoid the use of strong, chemical based products on your skin. Natural skin care products are a good option. Use of organic skin care products (home made or commercial) can be a very effective anti-aging skin care measure.
7. Keep your makeup clean. Replace the sponges in your compact on a regular basis. Now and then, toss the whole works and start fresh — the average shelf life for cosmetics is 6 to 12 months. Don’t buy products so expensive that you’ll be heartbroken if you have to throw them away.
8. Do not overuse skin care products. Excessive and harsh application, both are harmful.
9. Protect yourself from the sun — use sunscreen and avoid direct sunlight between the hours of 10am and 2pm.
10. Don’t — I repeat — don’t smoke. Your skin is a large organ and it needs a lot of circulation. Smoking impairs that dramatically. That’s why smokers’ skin looks dull and gray. Instead of having oxy-generated blood delivered to the surface of the skin, they’re getting poisons and oxidants.
If you have special skin issues, such as stubborn acne, rosacea, or extremely sensitive or oily skin, the best thing to do is to seek out the advice of a professional dermatologist.
Pretty, healthy skin is well within your grasp, with a little bit of awareness, determination and persistence on your part. The results are definitely worth it.
Eye Wrinkles and Skin Damage Factors
Posted by Joanna on Dec 9, 2008
There are many factors that are responsible for skin damage and eye wrinkles. Skin also gets damaged by external factors. Sun is the main external factor that ages the skin. Ultraviolet radiation is the electromagnetic radiation. These radiations are not visible to naked eye.
A harsh detergent is the general name given to ionic detergents, which can be harmful to the skin. These detergents are called ionic because their molecule gets charged up when they come in contact with water. If you come across a product that contains ionic detergents, try to avoid the usage of such product or else look for similar products that have nonionic detergents or look out for a substitute for that product.
The hotter the water, greater is the chance of damage being done as the rate of chemical reactions increases with temperature i.e. the molecules scatter at very high speed when the temperature rises. Hence it is advisable to take bath with water that is warm and not hot and also you should not soak your body for too long in water.
Irritants can damage your skin in 2 ways. First, they have the capability to directly infect or damage cells and matrix of the skin. Second, it can also instill an inflammatory or allergic reaction in the skin, which can have a very bad effect on your skin because they may release destructive free radicals and also metalloproteinase’s or MMP.
Several different types of damage like infection, trauma, abrasions, burns, etc cause inflammation of the skin. It is a rare possibility but inflammation can also be caused by an auto immune response i.e. a malfunction of the immune system of the body, here it doesn’t require any external cause to exist.
Puffiness in the eye area is a very common appearance of mild facial edema.
There are many people who like to make faces, many times to make kids laugh or trying to imitate a friend. Many of them may not realize that this could be a cause of wrinkles on their face, especially eye wrinkles.
These wrinkles are called motion wrinkles, which are caused by repeating a particular facial expression over a period of time.
Excessive cleansing strips the layer of the skin sebum and the skin may become dry, it may also lead to skin sensitivity, eye wrinkles and other problems. One should avoid cleaning and washing the face with hot water and also one should not wash the face more than two times a day.
All the cosmetic stuff contains potential skin irritants. If you spend some time in finding the right product for you, it will definitely save money as well as prevent you from the possibility of damaging your skin.
Improve Your Skin Care With Eye Wrinkle Cream

Getting older has its perks. Once a woman reaches a certain age of maturity she qualifies for reduced prices when it comes to cups of coffee, theater tickets and even a bus pass. However there are other less enjoyable things that come with age. One of those is eye wrinkles. Almost every woman starts thinking about an anti wrinkle eye cream even before she retires.
The skin on the face is largely the most sensitive. Things like sun tanning, smoking and even makeup can have a negative impact on the way a woman looks. All of these factors can eventually contribute to wrinkles so finding an anti wrinkle eye cream can be likened to finding the fountain of youth. The right cream can actually take years off the way a woman looks.
Infomercials have become all the rage in the past decade or so. Staying up late one evening will have you privy to ads for everything from cooking grills to anti wrinkle eye cream. In the case of the latter, you’ll be bombarded with before and after images of women who have used the anti wrinkle eye cream and gotten great results. You may be skeptical of all the promises being made and you’d be wise in not rushing off to the phone to call the toll-free number and give out your credit card.
The majority of these creams, whether purchased from a television ad, a drug store or a high end skin care boutique are largely all the same. The goal of any anti wrinkle eye cream is to diminish the appearance of the small lines that develop around the eyes. To do this the anti wrinkle eye cream must possess some substance that makes it moisturizing. The more moisturizing one of these cosmetic creams is, the better the results will be.
If you are unsure of which is best for you consider your skin type. For a woman with very dry skin she’s going to want to purchase and use an anti wrinkle eye cream that contains the optimum amount of moisturizers. This is likely something she’s done throughout her life; chosen beauty products that add a boost of nourishment to her skin. For a woman who struggles with oily skin she’s more apt to choose an anti wrinkle eye cream that is made just for oily skin.
In any case taking good care of facial skin is vitally important when it comes to avoiding aging. Even if a woman is already noticing some small wrinkles or frown lines there’s a lot she can do to abate the effects of aging. Using a sunscreen under make-up each and everyday, exercising and eating a healthy diet will all contribute to a younger, fresher look.
